Job Description: Freelance Online Instructor

Start Date: ASAP but no later than 19th May.

Position: Freelance Online Instructor
Status: Self-Employed (Freelance Contractor)
Location: Remote – Work from anywhere with a reliable internet connection
Hours: Initially an average of 10 hours per week (starting May), increasing to an average of 20 hours per week (starting August), these will fall between 0800 – 2000 GMT/BST seven days a week. There may be opportunities for more hours and flexibility within the calendar month.
Compensation:

  • £20/hour
  • Annual wage increases as per company policy
  • Training/onboarding wage £13/hour.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Student Support: Connect with students through live chat, email, and phone, providing online support for our courses, ensuring students receive timely, clear and supportive guidance. This includes marking exams and writing a feedback report.
    • Customer Enquiries: Guide customers through the purchasing process, RYA qualifications, syllabus, and general boating advice.
  • Social Media: Generate and manage content across social media channels. Including creating posts, responding to comments and engaging without partners.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Ardent Training team; participate in team meetings, share ideas, and support a culture of continuous learning.
  • Content Contribution: Opportunities may arise to assist with the creation and refinement of new courses, delivery of Live Sessions to students, or other short-term projects, which would be in addition to the instructing hours advertised here.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in maritime navigation, training, or related fields.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a passion for teaching.
  • Both competent and confident in multitasking on a computer.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a remote team.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Keen eye for detail and confidence delivering a premium quality service.
  • We welcome additional expertise (e.g., digital marketing, content creation, multimedia production) that can complement our online training platform.
  • RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor or Yachtmaster Offshore Shorebased Instructor
